Cooperative Preschools were the Core of My Children's Education

I have been a parent at a Cooperative preschool in Arlington (Overlee) for the past 7 years. Being a part of my child's education has not only been a huge support for my child (seeing me in the classroom) but also intergral in helping me raising my kids. I get to see and participate in how my child is integrated in the classroom with their peers and I also became a much more loving parent as a result.

The process of becoming a cooperative parent is taxing, especially in this area where a lot of parents both work full time jobs. The process is tolerable for the gain-seeing your chlid grow in a classroom enviroment. However, putting even MORE regulations and restrictions on parents who want to participate in their child's school would make these schools obsolete-as most parents do not have to time to jump through the hoops of the new regulations.

One more note, my oldest daughter who also went to Overlee for 4 years was in the car the other night talking to her younger sister, who is in her last months at Overlee. She mentioned that Overlee to her was "Kindness School". A school where everyone gets together and learns how to be kind. We need more of this in this world today. The cooperative school environment fosters this in both children and parents.
