Dry needling is a type of acupuncture called othopedic needling. PTs don't have the education or needle experience. The dry needle courses refer to acupuncture points to help with locating muscles and they locate them incorrectly. If they are using acupuncture points to help them find muscles then they need to go to acupuncture school to learn how to find the actual locations. Also, average acupuncture student graduates with having performed over 5,000 needle insertions. PTs are woefully underwducated. Often, I have to correct the work of PTs due to misdiagnosis and poor technique. Acupuncture is an invasive procedure require 4 years of education in order to perform competently and safely.
