Protect Women by Approving the Abortion Clinic Regulations

Why should abortion clinics be held to a lesser standard of care for patients than other medical facilities offering outpatient surgery?  The proposed regulations are a long overdue and appropriate step toward improving the safety and level of care provided to a very vulnerable group of women in our state.  Those opposing these regulations would presumably have no problem with stronger health and safety standards at their local endodontist or lithrotripsy center.  Surely if one were entrusting one's daughter, wife, or best friend to treatment at such a facility, one would expect that the facility would be held to the very highest standards of cleanliness, medical technology, and professionalism.  Abortion is not the harmless procedure that its proponents would have us believe.  Women deserve better "healthcare" than they are currently getting and these regulations simply treat abortion like the serious procedure that it is.  These facilities should be capable of providing emergency care to the women who with some frequency are rushed to area hospitals after experiencing complications.
