As the President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA-PA) and on behave of the APNA-PA Board of Directors, I am writing to enthusiastically support the current petition from the Virginia Chapter of the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, requesting the Board to examine its regulations for the practice of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). The "Consensus Model for APRN Regulation, Licensure, Accreditation, Certification, & Education (LACE)" has been adopted by over 44 national nursing societies as well as national accreditation and certification bodies. The LACE Model recognizes and promotes the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Clinical Nurse Specialists have a long and distinguished history of proving expert, safe, effective, & cost-effective care to the populations served. Thank You
