DO NOT TAKE VIRGINIA OUT OF THE REGIONAL GREENHOUSE GAS INITIATIVE

DO NOT TAKE VIRGINIA OUT OF THE REGIONAL GREENHOUSE GAS INITIATIVE. Money comes back to us from the RGGI. It has afforded Virginia significant funds for flood preparedness and upgrading low-income homes to be more energy efficient. Governor, you don’t have a viable alternative source for that money for Virginia if you take us out of the initiative. In addition, through the RGGI, CO? emissions that get trapped in Earth’s atmosphere, contributing to global warming, are decreasing faster in the participating states than in the rest of the U.S.

Our electric bills are not so much higher because of the RGGI but because of the regulations on how our power companies can pass on to consumers their rising costs of buying coal, etc., to run their power plants. Look into that, Governor. Work with the power companies to decrease utility bills for Virginians.

Keep Virginia in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. It’s good for Virginia.
