HB909/SB488 (2024)

The existing regulations under HB909/SB488, which rightly eliminate the need for the Legally Responsible Individual (LRI) to engage in an ongoing, burdensome process of submitting Objective Written Documentation (OWD), must be preserved without modification. These protections are crucial in ensuring that the focus remains on delivering consistent, high-quality care rather than being diverted by relentless bureaucratic demands. The current standards must continue to safeguard LRIs from the exhausting and repetitive documentation requirements that would otherwise impede their ability to effectively care for their loved ones. Any attempt to reintroduce these obligations would be a significant step backward, undermining the efficiency and effectiveness of care for those with the most severe needs.
