HB909/SB488 (2024)

The documentation process for the CCC+ waiver was a nightmare that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It was time-consuming, stressful, and often felt like a never-ending battle to prove that my child deserved the care they needed. Bringing this process back would be a huge step backward and only harm families like mine. I strongly oppose the Application for 1915(c) HCBS Waiver: Draft VA.004.05.03 section that focuses on amending rules set by HB909/SB488 when an (LRI) is the paid aide/attendant for the personal care service.

The current regulations under HB909/SB488 have wisely acknowledged the critical importance of my role as an LRI, ensuring that my expertise is prioritized in my child’s care.

The exhausting process of submitting documentation is more than just a bureaucratic hurdle; it’s a barrier to care. As a parent, I want to focus on my child’s well-being, not on compiling mountains of paperwork. Reverting this requirement would be a major setback for families needing support, not more obstacles.
