LRI guardrails

The initial draft of the LRI guardrails has resulted in significant disruption and imposed impractical demands on families. It is crucial that the next draft addresses the needs of those families who are struggling to provide care for individuals who are eligible and in urgent need of support. Services must be designed around the needs of the clients, rather than contingent upon the capabilities of the caregivers. We should aim to create limitations that allow for reasonable flexibility.

Some families cannot utilize advertising due to behavioral issues and concerns about liability, and finding suitable caregivers is increasingly difficult due to inadequate pay rates. Please take these factors into account when planning the next steps. The aim should be to avoid placing undue burdens on recipients of this state program and to ensure they receive the support they need and deserve without unnecessary obstacles. Restricting the role of the Employer of Record (EOR) and imposing additional barriers will only complicate access to the essential services required for health and safety.
