HB909/SB488

Remaining as the first option as the LRI is vital for protecting my child from life-threatening infections due to their severe immunodeficiency. If amendments were to change this, the likelihood of improper infection control would skyrocket, putting my child’s life in grave danger.

My child has severe immunodeficiency, making them highly susceptible to infections that could quickly become life-threatening. I have developed stringent protocols to minimize exposure to pathogens and ensure immediate treatment at the first sign of illness. A new caregiver might not adhere strictly to these protocols, significantly increasing the risk of infection and severe illness. I should be the primary caregiver to protect my child’s fragile health.

The provisions in HB909/SB488 have allowed me to continue providing the careful and protective care my child’s condition demands. The Virginia General Assembly’s actions have been crucial in preventing life-threatening infections. Amending these provisions could expose my child to unnecessary risks, potentially leading to severe illness or death.

The current Application for 1915(c) HCBS Waiver: Draft VA.004.05.03  could introduce caregivers who might not fully understand or follow the necessary infection control protocols, endangering my child's health and safety.
