The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is announcing the establishment of an ad hoc work group to assist in developing regulations regarding criteria to determine if a significant adverse impact to prime agricultural soils or forest lands is likely to occur as a result of a proposed solar project that is a small renewable energy project. This work group will also assist in developing criteria for an applicant of a solar project to address in a plan to mitigate any significant adverse impacts to soils and lands. A list of ad hoc work group members is available on the DEQ web page, https://www.deq.virginia.gov/get-involved/hb206-stakeholder-group. The first meeting of this work group will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on June 28, 2022 at the Workforce Development and Conference Center https://ccwatraining.org/ located at the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Campus, 1651 E Parham Rd, Suite 108, Richmond, VA 23228. Please note that while this is a public meeting and members of the public are invited to attend, only members of the work group will be asked to participate.
