On June 27, 2007 the State Water Control Board approved a fast-track regulation process to adopt revisions to the Water Quality Standards in 9 VAC 25-260-
30. These revisions relate to water quality standards to designate a segment of the Hazel River within the Shenandoah National Park as Exceptional State Waters. The proposed amendments were published as a fast-track regulation rulemaking on December 10, 2007, Volume 24, Issue 7 of the
Virginia Register with and considered approved by the Board upon receiving no comment by the conclusion of the comment period on February 8, 2008. The effective date is upon filing the notice of EPA approval with the Registrar of Regulations. The State Water Control Board hereby notices EPA approval of these revisions to the water quality standards via a letter dated July 18, 2008 from Jon M. Capacasa, Director of the Water Protection Division, EPA Region 3 to David K. Paylor, Director of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
