Parents as paid caregivers for more than one child.

Please finalize the LRI changes which were unanimously voted on by the Virginia General Assembly.  Democrats and Republicans came together to unanimously approve the changes in HB909/SB488, DMAS needs to honor this law.  Parents ought to be able to be the paid caregiver of their disabled child or children.  The bill was passed and signed into law and due to take effect on July 1st 2024.  As yet, although I am able to remain a paid caregiver, DMAS has not put into effect the provision in the bill that I can be paid for more than one child on the waiver.  This is grossly unfair to the many parents in my situation, who are doing the work of multiple caregivers and being paid for one.

I would also like to take this opportunity to state that DMAS was very reluctant to speak with anyone about this bill and whether or not changes would go through once the law was passed.  I have been working with service facilitators and agencies and the county we live in and none of these groups or companies had any information about the changes and when or if they would happen.  I contacted DMAS and go too answer from them at all.  I ended up having to contact my legislators about the changes, and they had to press DMAS for answers too.  Why is DMAS so difficult to communicate with and get answers from?
