Lri

The change allowing LRIs to be paid caregivers has provided much-needed consistency in care for our child, giving him a sense of security and stability. It has spared us from repeatedly exposing him to new, unfamiliar caregivers and from disclosing private information about his diagnosis, often at the risk of misunderstanding or judgment. We recommend removing the Objective Written Documentation requirement and continuing to permit LRIs as paid caregivers without requiring families to prove the challenges of hiring low-wage, benefit-less workers. Offering respite for unpaid LRIs would be a small but significant support for families who can only find temporary help for their loved ones with disabilities.
