Lri

The policy change allowing LRIs to be paid caregivers has had a significant positive impact on our child’s life. With consistent and familiar caregiving, he feels more secure, and our family no longer faces the stress of constantly changing caregivers or the need to disclose his diagnosis to strangers. We recommend eliminating the Objective Written Documentation requirement and allowing LRIs to continue as paid caregivers without the added burden of proving the difficulties in finding adequate care for such low wages and without benefits. Offering respite to unpaid LRIs would provide crucial support for families who manage to find occasional help but cannot secure full-time care for their loved ones with disabilities.
