Mandate Title:
EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Program
Purpose of legislation
Provides for the Board for Asbestos, Lead, and Home Inspectors to regulate the practice of lead-based paint renovation businesses, individuals, and training providers. The bill defines "renovation" as the modification of any existing structure, for compensation, that results in the disturbance of painted surfaces, unless that activity is performed as a part of a lead abatement project. Currently the Board's authority is limited to the regulation of permanent elimination of lead-based paint.

Closing Explanation
As a result of HB 1005 and SB 560 passed during the 2024 General Assembly session and approved by the Governor, the ALHI Board will no longer have the power or duty to promulgate this regulation. The regulatory action created to fulfill this mandate was withdrawn on 5/14/24.
