Southampton Solar LLC, has provided notice to the Department of Environmental Quality (the "Department") of their intention to submit the necessary documentation for a permit by rule for a Small Renewable Energy Project (Solar) in Southampton County.  The project will have a Maximum Capacity of 100 Megawatts Alternating Current (AC) and will utilize traditional photovoltaic solar modules that rotate throughout the day to track the sun.  The project is located in southern Southampton County, near the Boykins electrical substation in the general vicinity of Boykins and Newsoms, VA. The project will be sited across roughly 1,200 acres, and across multiple parcels.
