Opposition to inclusion of NCLEP for licensure by endorsement in Virginia

I am firmly opposed to the proposal to amend the requirements for licensure by endorsement in Virginia to include the National Counselor Licensure for Endorsement Process (NCLEP) as a route to counselor licensure.  NCLEP Is a thinly veiled attempt by CACREP to gain a monopoly on the Licensed Professional Counselor accreditation process in the US. Why does CACREP feel the need to attempt to “pull the wool over our eyes,” by pushing their exclusionary agenda for professional counseling accreditation?!

The American Counseling Association (ACA), as the nation’s largest association for professional counselors, has put forth a licensure portability proposal that is far more inclusive and fair. I highly support the ACA’s proposal, because it will increase accessibility to high quality mental health care for all Virginians, The NCLEP proposal will only serve to restrict accessibility for Virginians to the same high quality mental health care.

Very Respectfully,
