Health professionals against TRAP laws

The Supreme Court established the legality of abortion 45 years ago. During the intervening time there has been extensive data gathered establishing the safety of and the need for abortion as a safe and legal option for women.

TRAP laws, designed to curtail this essential health care service for the women of Virginia, are unneccesarily restrictive and serve only to try to limit access to abortion. As a physician, a voter and a citizen of Virginia, I strongly urge the legislature to overturn permanently these regulations. They are not supported by medical / scientific evidence and do not serve a medical purpose- they are a ill concealed attempt to make abortion more difficult. This is not in the interests of the citizens of Virginia.
