Women’s Healthcare

Women in Virginia deserve access to healthcare, and unnecessary, medically unjustifiable regulations that limit women’s access to healthcare should be a priority for re-examination and removal. Thousands of women, including many college students, depend on women’s healthcare centers like Planned Parenthood for care that is not offered by their GP or student health centers. Many of these same women cannot afford services at private clinics or are away from their home networks for school. If the point is to make women safer, give them access to lifesaving screenings, treatment, exams, and medication, as well as abortion services. Placing hospital-like requirements on women’s healthcare clinics is simply a transparent attempt to limit access to care to those rich enough to seek it in more elaborate surrounds.
