This bill is vague and short sighted and will damage the profession as a whole for the state of Virginia. There have been no impact studies or attempts at truly understanding the profession and/or what is expected of or dealt with during a home inspection. This bill will open the flood gates and make home inspectors the fall guy when someone decides to buy a bad house. Our job is to document the visible condition of the home on the day of the inspection.  We do NOT tell people to buy it or not. We do NOT make any claims to see behind walls or predict what the future may hold. We also do NOT do any type of destructive investigation. It's very limited and this is reflected in the price. There seems to be a misunderstanding that, for hundreds of dollars, inspectors should be liable for hundreds of thounsands of dollars.
