I attending the open hearing at the Woodbridge office of the Department of Environmental Quality. I would like to echo the comments I heard from many. The issue of carbon emissions is too big to be ignored or put off to find the most perfect system. We must join RGGI as soon as possible in order to try to stem the overwhelming tide of the climate crisis we face. While I would prefer a fee and dividend solution (a predictable fee at the source of fossil fuel and no amorphous auctions for carbon offsets), we must start somewhere. This regulation to start with cap and trade and rebates is the place. We must start reducing GHGs while we bring our investments in renewable energy sources up to speed. Please do everything you can to make this regulation the best it can be, with no biomass fuel loophole and with the lowest possible level of carbon emissions as a target goal. We must all work together to leave our children and grandchildren with a better world.
