Virginia has determined the law aboding citizens should be able to carry firearms.  There is no reason why that should be restrited in State forests.  The police are not readily available in the forest, it is not easy to call them, and there is no address that you can give them to find you.

Crimes do happen, and animals (on rare occasion) do become rabid, etc.

The carrying of firearms should be allowed.
