Yes to handguns

For years my family has been able to enjoy the many beautiful parks that our state has to offer and for years we would have preferred to do so legally armed.  On numerous occasions we have encountered individuals who were there NOT enjoying the wonders of nature!   In fact, the last "incident" has prevented us from enjoying additional visits!   Anyone who legally conceals appreciates that police are reactive and not proactive!  Are we expected to survive a violent attack (human or animal) long enough for law or park enforcement authorities to arrive?  Good luck!  Are we expected to use our cell phones to summon help?  Good luck again...no cell towers!  Have we forgotten Winans/Williams murders?    Anyone who legally carries a gun knows that they carry the burden of a "higher standard of care" and would only use that weapon in dire circumstances.  The comments of the man prior to mine are absurd .  He stated that "he wants to be able to hike without the worry of being shot".  A legal gun carrier does not flaunt their weapon.  The opposite is true.  Under vicarious situations, the CCW carrier will wait longer than law enforcement to react.    I can assure the gentleman that it is not the CCW person he has to worry about!   Make it legal to carry a gun in Virginia's state parks!!!!!
