Delete the phrase, "who do not live in the home."

My friend Laurie is sitting right next to me as I write this.  "She has patience with me," she says.  Which is very true.  We just got through with a "fabulous" meal of pizza and salad prepared by chef Laurie.  I would not be afforded this same opportunity if I did not have the honour of living with Laurie and my other housemates who experience intellectual disabilities.  Please - do not take away the voice and agency of persons with disabilities by declaring for them who they can and cannot live with.  Please delete the phrase, "who do not live in the home," from this new proposal.  I urge you to consider the ramifications of these words - namely, the further isolation and exclusion of persons with disabilities from society.  Additionally, this would mean persons considered not to have intellectual disabilities would be missing out on the immense opportunity it is to be invited by persons with intellectual disabilities to live and learn from them in their home.  Please, do not make us a less human society by passing this bill. Delete the phrase, "who do not live in the home." Thank you. Lauren Palmer
