Strongly support this petition.

As a lifelong citizen of Virginia, I strongly support this petition.  Being a little old lady, the knowledge that I (a law-abiding citizen) have no chance to protect myself against the criminal element (law breakers) is revolting to me.  Too many laws have been enacted that enable thugs and goons who, by their own actions, don't abide by laws or rules.  These same laws tie the hands of honest folks who wish to protect themselves yet feel they must comply with the law.  By allowing us to carry, you'll be making it a more level playing field for the vast majority of law-abiding citizens.  Even those who wish to remain unarmed will fall under a certain blanket of protection.  Since statistics show that crooks are less likely to attack an armed person, unless the non-carrying person wears a sign that says "I AM NOT ARMED" the thugs will still have an element of doubt.  Also should the unarmed person get into trouble, it has been my experience that gun people are responsible, caring folks who are willing to help if needed.  Another thought, should one become injured or lost in a state forest or park, a gunshot could be used to alert those searching for you as to your location.  I believe the 2nd Amendment has already stated everything much better than I can.  I appreciate your time and strongly urge you to approve this petition.  Thank you.
