DO NOT SUPPORT!

I can NOT support this change.  Licensed technicians spend approximately $20,000 and 2-3 years of their life attending school to become Licensed Veterinary Technicians.  When most technicians do find employment they are not even paid a living wage. Most licensed technicians go into this profession due to their love of animals not for the money.  Assistants do occupy a needed space in the veterinary world, but it is NOT performing tasks that a licensed technician should be performing.  Veterinary clients are entrusting the care of their fur wearing family members to us and I believe this would be an injustice to those clients!  I do not believe this law should be changed just to accommodate the many veterinary facilities that are already breaking this law. This is a slippery slope to go down. What's next?  Performing anesthesia, intubating patients, giving controlled drugs, figuring out the dosage of medications?  Eventually even the Veterinary Technician programs will not be needed....just let an assistant with no schooling do it!
