I wish they all could be LVT's, but I should stop dreaming and singing.

Living in rural southwest Virginia we do not have a fee structure to be able to give LVT's what they deserve which is 20-25$ an hour. We just had an employee that worked with us for 8 years get her LVT license and move to a major metropolitan area where she could make twice what she did here. Argh!! We need help in this stressful yet rewarding profession. I am in favor of allowing other individuals to place catheters, of course with supervision. That is how all of us learned such a hands on skill.  Unless we change our low fee structure and find clients willing to pay we need to set up a system that supports the hospitals that are in lower income areas.

This is an in hospital procedure and it does not cheapen what LVT's have learned and earned. There will always be a huge demand for LVT's. Thank you for your commitment to the profession, but we need more help.
