Oppose regulation change

The Board, as mandated by the statutes of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is to protect animal owning citizens from veterinarians who who practice egregious medicine, AND to establish standards of care consistent with accepted standards of veterinary medicine. This proposal "dumbs down" both of these statutes.

The negative effect is twofold. First, it diminishes the current standards of care thus exposing increased risks to animals being treated, and secondly, creates an adversarial relationship between veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians. This,  in turn,  potentially could decrease enrollment in veterinary technician programs.
