Do we change laws when there is a shortage of police in limited areas of the state? NO

Do we change laws because a lot of people are breaking them anyway? NO

Do we want the most qualified people coming to our aid in an emergency situation? YES

I really don't understand why this is an issue. As a pet owner, I want the same level of care for my animal that my child would receive in an emergency room and I'm pretty sure that's not someone without any formal education or training.  I want a licensed person putting in IV catheters, giving medicines and paying attention to how my dog is doing afterwards.

We pet owners trust our vets, but after reading some of these comments from vets I am concerned that perhaps not all vets are created equal.  They are quick to say that some assistants are just as good as licensed technicians, or sometimes better.  I'd say the same  is true of vets too. no license insures competence or skill, but it is often the best measure we have and at least shows that someone was trained.
