This has been a long standing problem in many rural practices through out the state and for the animal's benefit, should be allowed. LVTs are very valuable but the fact is that currently there are too few to supply the demand and large corporate practices gobble them up or other related industries who can pay higher wages. The human medical industry utilzes phlebotomists who are not nurses but fill that need. I understand the LVTs position and long fought opinions but they also must learn to share some responsibility for the benefit of the patient. Our profession has many smaller practices that can not attract or retain LVTs and qualified trained assistant would fill that need. Economically our profession is dependent on our client's disposable income and I feel we may be over pricing our services for many of our poorer clientele. Note the SPCA in Richmond. To survive we also need to economize and not just raise prices. If a demand is there and no one to fill it, it needs to addressed. We have to trust our professional members as we did when LVTs were at the beginning of their profession.
