STRONGLY opposed

This is just another way to undermine what LVTs are and what we do. I went to college, have 60k in student loans and I can barely get qualified for a decent home loan due to my debt to income ratio BECAUSE I went to school and because LVTs make peanuts compared to other professions. We already hear "oh you're just a technician" on almost a daily basis. Perhaps these veterinarians who need LVTs would offer education allowances (there are several on-line programs now accredited by the AVMA) so that their assistants can become licensed. This is not unheard of. I have worked for several veterinarians that will put their assistants through Tech school on a contract that the technician then work for the practice for "x" amount of years.

Furthermore, since these vets don't have time to place their own IV caths, and my vets barely have time to prescribe medications I would like to petition that I become a veterinarian. I can be trained to do so, correct? And who cares about schooling when you can train on the job. How does everyone feel about that?

If you want to do my job, go to school, study for months day in and day out, pass a national board exam, pay for your 8 hours of CE every year to keep your license and then place as many IVCs as you'd like.
