I have mixed feelings about changes in this ruling.  I understand the lack of Vet Techs (we are currently looking for a second LVT), but if we re-delegate certain duties to "trained staff" then we are defeating the purpose of training and licensing LVTs, and what incentive is there for people to enroll in the LVT programs?  Who monitors anesthesia in the practices with no LVTs while the vet is performing the surgery?  Is it OK for a "trained" staff member to do this as well, due to a shortage?  Indeed, we need to encourage more people to enroll in the LVT programs and adjust our fees accordingly so that we can afford to pay them for their training.  And we need to emphasize to our clients when we have such trained staff members on our team!!
