Commenter: Blue Ridge veterinary Hospital

Very strongly support

The real issue is not whether LVT's will feel threatened by allowing a trained unlicensed veterinary technician to place an IVC, but whether or not it will help patient care within the hospital setting. Anyone can sterily place an IVC if taught the proper technique. Many veterianarians don't have the luxury of having a licensed tech (not because they won't pay their wages, but they can't with the income of their practice). I can't afford an LVT because I net little more that a new graduate -because I chose to work in a low income area. Certainly, at the veterinarian's discretion,  a veterinary technician should be allowed to place an IVC because sometimes conditions dictate that the veterinarian is ivolved in another emergency situation. In human medicine you don't need to be a licensed nurse to place an IVC. Why tie the veterinarian's hands even more when it will help us practice quality medicine. Support better patient care! Don't let the threatened LVTs kill this petition!
