In support of trained non-LVT staff placing IVC

I strongly support the placement of IVC by non-licensed veterinary technicians with an overseeing veterinarian or LVT on staff.  Hospitals have strict training of new hires so they should be able to decide if said LVT or non-licensed technicians skill set is suitable to safely place catheters.  I have seen LVT's with poor skillsets unable to safely place IVC and unlicensed techs with extensive experience be much more capable of clinical procedures in practice.  Catheters are not typically placed without doctors’ consent first anyhow-with general practice the overseeing doctor or LVT in charge will be able to see if additional training is needed and dictate which staff members possess the skill set necessary to correctly place IVC.
