IV catheter placement - I support this
I am in favor of trained unlicensed vet assistants to place IV catheters PROVIDED that a training standard is created. There are simply not enough licensed technicians available in the state. Doctors will need to oversee the training in their practices so they are free to evaluate diagnostic test results, perform surgery and direct patient care. This should not threaten LVTs since they have been educated to do so much more than just place IV catheters.
