not in favor. Why are we okay letting unlicensed personnel place IVCs, when on the other hand, y'all are saying we don't have enough technicians, and techs are in such high demand. Well dern, why do you think that is?! If an assistant can place a catheter and intubate and draw blood, etc. why would they want to go to tech school? They were "trained" well enough. We don't need techs if we have unlicensed assistants!!! Come on, technicians work very hard and we need to continue to move forward and get people through school to learn this stuff.  it's not rocket science to place a catheter but Meg Thompson definitely hit the nail on the head as far as what happens AFTER the placement-if it's placed correctly, then fine. Incorrectly and things can go very wrong. And they're not trained to deal with those issues.
