Enact the Petition for Firearms in the State Forests

YES IN CAPITAL LETTERS!  As a recently retired USAF officer who has been in 80 countries and in every campaign from JUST CAUSE to ENDURING FREEDOM, I have seen first hand the tragic loss of individual rights of the majority of the world's population who do not have the constitutional right to individually bear arms.  I find it absurd and irrational to think that law abiding Americans would abuse such in state forests and as has been shown, time and time again, crime is prevented when criminals know the populace is armed.  I would feel a lot safer knowing that citizens in the state forests were armed as would my family.  In closing, there is old saying,"Any government that is so afraid of its own people, should not exist."   Please tell me one single incident in Virginia or the US for that matter, in which a American who had the legal right to carry a weapon has misused it?   You can't because there is none, but there were over 350,000 recorded incidents just last year in which legally armed citizens stopped crimes in progress in the US.   Richard G.
