dry needling is Acupuncture

Dry needling is a type of acupuncture. For a group of people to want to practice an extremely effective modality is understandable. However not to have any guidlines about training, supervisied practice or testing is to put the public at risk. Physical therpaists generally do not have enough education in the specific requirements to stick needles in people. The experts in this technique are acupuncturists, they are trained to use needles to treat biomedically defined diseases as well as use traditional language like channels.

The informed consent  proposed for use in Virginia is deceptive and misleading. This technique is not  substantially different from acupuncutre. To claim so is merely twisting language to conform to desire.

Please protect the people of Virginia. Having under-trained, unsupervised, untested people preforming acupuncture on the public and presenting themselves as experts is a recipe for spending money on poor quality health care, or even harm.
