Dry Needling and my foot

I had surgery to remove 5 bone spurs from my big toe. A year later I could barely get a shoe on not to mention the pain of walking in them. My Doctor had given me a Cortosone shot which had helped for a short amount of time so he said he wanted me to get some therapy and Dry Needling before any more shots.

I started with therapy which was painful but I could tell it was having some benefit. About a month in I still had inflammation, scar tissue, muscle tightness, and soreness. I opted for a Dry Needling session. I literally watched the swelling, redness, and stiffness in that area disappear instantly. Yes, I said instantly. We were amazed at how it just vanished.

Since that time I've had 2 additional sessions and each one, although not quite as dramatic, were every bit as beneficial. In my case therapy and Dry Needling has gotten me to a place I can not only wear shoes but also boots and shoes w/ heels. I can walk without limping and the horrible pain associated w/ scar tissue and muscles that were mad and not cooperating.

I'm grateful that my Doctor prescribed it. Until then I had never heard of it, but I'm glad I know about it now. Being able to incorporate it as needed with therapy by my Physical Therapist was God sent. If I had to go to a different facility and different practitioner it would mean a huge inconvenience and the ability to incorporate it with therapy effectively would be lost causing a huge disconnect.

The goal of therapy is to get back as much mobility in as little time as possible. Letting people who know the body and how to work it do Dry Needling only makes sense. I'm thankful my therapist offers this. I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference it made and how I might have not had the same outcome if I were forced to go somewhere else just for this. It made a huge difference for me having the person who was familiar with me and my foot issue able to use this tool to give me relief and help as needed, on the spot if I needed it.
