Dry Needle Regulation

Dry Nedling IS acupuncture. Period. It's piercing through the skin, sometimes down to the bone and close to sheaths that cover vital organs, with an acupuncture needle. Often used to treat to pain, physical therapists claim they are not doing acupuncture because they are treating trigger points. Acupuncturists treat pain and needle trigger points all the time, except they call them "Ashi" points. Acupuncturists also have a solid understanding about how Myofacial chains work. PT's don't. Even as a patient, I've had several PTs not be able to help me but the acupuncturist who understands the synergy of muscles and ligaments, could and did help me. Frankly, PTs have figured out that acupuncture works. It's works way better than PT alone and they are hijacking this modality for themselves and have the audacity to try to Needle a patient without proper training. If they want to Needle that badly, they can enroll in acupuncture college and graduate with a full understanding of what it means to insert needles into someone and why. They should have to attend a 4 year, FULL TIME, acupuncture program.
