No dry needling

Dry needling is not in the physical therapist's scope of practice UNLESS they have studied for the minimum of 4 years in an accredited institution obtaining a masters or doctorate level degree which would allow them the understanding of acupuncture techniques, theory, and supervision by licensed clinicians. The knowledge necessary for dry needling far surpasses anyrhing available during a weekend course. Just as a licensed acupuncturist should not give prescribed rehabilitation physical therapy to a patient but rather should advise a patient to consult a licensed physical therapist for such, physical therapist should respect this right of an acupuncturist.
