There is a clear cut difference between the reasoning and practices of dry needling and acupuncture and PTs in no way refer to dry needling as acupuncture. Physical Therapists have extensive training and knowledge in anatomy  providing them with a solid background prior to receiving any formal training for the skill. As a practitioner of dry needling I have witnessed first hand the dramatic results and revoking this would result in a decrease in efficiency and quality of care for patients
