Dry needling is Acupuncture

Dry Needling is Acupuncture as Acupuncture is tiny, sterile, filliform needles that are used to puncture specific locations of the body including trigger points known as Ashi points in Chinese Medicine. If PT's want to be able to use these needles for dry needling; then, they should be required just as MD's and Chiropractors to train at least 200 hours not over a weekend seminar. Acupuncturist are trained over a 1000 hours. PT's need to understand how and why they are dry needling where they are and the location, especially the how to. This avoids common mistakes such as ppneumothorax, or puncturing of the lung.
