The insertion of an Acupuncture needle is an invasive procedure that requires Acu licensure. No PT!

The insertion of any filaform sterile needle into a patient to achieve a desired effect is termed Acupuncture. This is an invasive procedure, requires an informed consent a day must be performed by a highly educated and licensed Acupuncturist. Physical Therapist do not have this training to perform an invasive procedure nor are they specially licensed to perform this invasive procedure. This is outside their scope of practice. Placing a needle knowledgeably and safely is an invasive procedure not a technique. Please keep the public's safety at the forefront. There have been multiple injuries such as pneumothorax done by PT'S. This could have been prevented. Leave Acupuncture to Acupuncturists. Thank you.
