Dry Needling Is the same as Acupuncture & Therefore Requires the Same Education Qualifications

I have been a patient of licensed and fully educated Acupuncture practicioners for more than 20 years. It is the only medical procedure that has provided me with pain relief for my incurable nerve condition, trigeminal neuralgia. It is unthinkable to rename a procedure in order to allow unlicenced and inadequately  educated or trained individuals to practice this type of Eastern Medicine. Dry needling is acupunture. The doctors who have performed acupuncture on me have medical degrees and formal training similar to a physcian that decides to be a specialist beyond a general practicioner. These are the necessary qualifications for anyone to be allowed to insert "needles" in a patient. Inserting "needles" incorrectly can cause insurmoutable damage to a patient's health, particularly the nerve areas. Simply being aware of the location of trigger points and kinesiology does not provide sufficient protection for patients. Only licensed, educated physcians who have gone beyond their general requirements to practice medicine should be allowed to provide this service. Anyone that thinks otherwise fails to recognize the basis of this practice and the skills necessary to perform acupuncture, even when called "dry needling", and is merely interested in making more money. This is a practice that has more than a 1000 years of medical history behind it and can not be learned in 3 days or weeks. Dry needling should not be alloed to be practiced accept by fully licensed and educated physcians who have studied Eastern Medicine and had the years of practical experience.
