I oppose dry needling by physical therapists. Needling is acupuncture and requires years of training
Dry needling is acupuncture. Dry needling could disture the flow of chi when done by an unlicensed person pretending to be an acupuncturist. More harm than good being done is a real possibility. Acupuncture cannot be simplified to inserting needles at pain locations without fully understandind the underlying differential diagnosis, and selecting the correct set of acupuncture points to benefit the patient.Do no harm. Do not allow physical therapists to perform acupuncture (dry needling). It is outside their scope of practice.
