I am having been practicing acupuncture for over 30 years in Florida and in Virginia. Dry needling in no way comes close to the affect of acupuncture treatment. WHile the physical therapist may know this the consumer DOES NOT. They confuse the experience causing them not to desire or chose the services that we are trained in. Dry needling is often painful and limited in effect. PT's do not have an understanding of the energetic anatomy just as my understanding of physical medicine is limited. I think it is important to keep the scopes of practice separate, protecting both our professions and the consumers.
