Dry needling is not safe unless practiced by acupuncturist !

Dry needling is Chinese acupuncture, a skill grounded in thousands of years of theory and that requires many years of training in order to become proficient. The handful of hours of training that physical therapists receive in dry needling is completely inadequate for them to practice the technique safely. By allowing PTs to do dry needling, they are misleading consumers and putting patients' health at risk. Needling should only be performed by a licensed acupuncturist; if PTs also wish to practice, they must learn and train in accordance to acupuncture law.
