I am strongly pro petition. Law abiding Virginians, certainly those who have undergone the background checks to obtain a concealed handgun permit, should be allowed to carry firearms anywhere except inside a jail. There is no rational reason to do otherwise. Such citizens present no danger to anyone except criminals. They act as their own guardians and, sometimes, as the protectors of other innocents as well. Bans on firearm carry serve only to harass law abiding citizens and forfeit their safety to the whims of armed criminals, who ignore rules and laws of all types. Thus such bans actually endanger the public safety.
