Allowing the Lawful Carry of Handguns on State Forests

I am in favor of the petition.

I am currently serving in the Army here in Iraq to insure that we will continue to enjoy all of the rights and freedoms guaranteed by both the word and the intent of the Constitution.  I voluntreered after 30 years of service and 6 years of retirement because I believe I can help prevent future 9/11's or smaller terrorist attacks on US soil.  I am a resident of Sterling VA, and always carry a handgun there as well as here where I am REQUIRED to.

Possibly fewer would argue against my being armed here, but the fact of the matter is that there are bad guys everywhere.  After five months here I have not been required to fire a single shot in defense, just as I have not in 66 years in the USA.   However, many others have done so and saved their, or loved one's lives.  Many, many others have died and seen loved ones die at the hands of killers because they were unarmed law abiding citizens.  Unfortunately the lawless do not even consider laws prohibiting guns, or they use other weapns if they do fear some of the new mandatory sentencing laws.  As the old saying goes, "never take a knife to a gun fight."  And yes, there are animals who pose a danger to humans in our state forrests.  Infrequently?  Yes, but for each victim it is 100%.
